Summery: It’s her smile that really drives him crazy.
It’s her smile that really drives him crazy. That small smile that just screams that she knows something he doesn’t. And if there’s one thing Querl Dox absolutely hates, it’s not knowing something.
So he decides that he is going to find out what she knows that makes her smile like that. Even if it means spending more time with her than could be considered remotely healthy. He often snaps at her, pointing out just how illogical she is. She snaps back at him, still smiling. Always smiling. Like she is enjoying this.

It’s Lyle who points out that Querl doesn’t know her real name.
It’s Nura Nal.
It’s three days before Querl realizes that he thinks it’s a pretty name.
Two weeks after that, he finally takes her up on her offer of drinks.
They have sex for the first time three days later, in a storage unit. Her idea, if dragging him into one and saying that she’s tired of waiting for him to make the first move really counts as an idea. They both end up bruised from knocking into shelves, but Querl is certain that they are both satisfied with the encounter.
There is a repeat performance a few hours later, in Querl’s least secret lab. Her idea again.
Lyle swears he’s scarred for life because he caught them in the act.
They don’t speak for almost a month after their first fight. He brings her a Coluan singing crystal. He knows she’ll like it. She has data recordings of the music in her personal files in the Legion database.
It gets broken during the make up sex. He replaces it a week later.
Shadow lass starts a betting pool on how long it will be until they break up. When they marry two summers later, Nura wins the money.
Their daughter is born that spring.
