“Where are they?” Nico Minoru asked softly.
The poor, dumb muscle man turned to face the slight Asian woman with the stick in her hands and leered. Before he could say anything stupid, he found himself suddenly pulled to the wall by his own shadow as the woman whispered something. His skin started to crawl, and she took a step towards him.
“You planted a bomb in my home,” Nico said, her voice oddly level. “You almost killed me. You killed my baby. And if you don’t tell me who paid you to do it, I will kill you.”
There was a cold fury lurking under the calm that sent the thug’s courage trickling down his leg. “They’ll kill me.”
“I’ll make sure you stay alive,” Nico assured him. “But if you don’t tell me who they are, you’ll die here and now.”

Nico smiled to herself as she stepped out into the night, the Staff of One resting lightly in her hand. If she pressed her ear to the head of the staff, she could just make out the man’s screams.
