i hope this isnt to gauche, but i saw your post on saucy dwellings...i am moving to portland next year and was curious as to how much rent you pay for such a gorgeous house! its just glorious and i wonder if my boyfriend and i will be able to afford something similar. thanks for your help :)
We pay $1635 including utilities. It was originally $1535 but we agreed to a $100 rent increase since there are 4 of us and the utilities would be considerably more.
We live in one of the more 'expensive' areas- it's really close in on the East side to downtown and is in a neighborhood that has a lot of historically expensive houses.
There are a lot of gorgeous homes all over Portland that are pretty cheap.
gah, I couldn't imagine! The most I've ever paid for my share of the rent in Washington and Oregon has been here and that's only $450 including utilities. haha.

i actually live in NYC, so $1535 for a house like that is a perfect STEAL.
i pay near as much for the shoebox im living in!
