Coloring the blues away

In the last few years before I moved here, I took up a..."hobby" sounds a little too focused, kind of. "Activity", maybe. I found that a good way to relax my brain if I were particularly stressed out, especially if my thoughts were racing around in my head, was to sit down and color in a coloring book, with no words/numbers/other left-brainish- ( Read more... )

Crayons? Or pencils? Or something else I'm overlooking that you find more satisfying?

There is something so pleasant and enjoyable about it. I was thinking about it as compared to something like a jigsaw puzzle--I enjoy those just fine, but in coloring there's no wrong answer, which feels important to my relaxation process. (You should see some of my flashier dinosaurs. :D )

Crayons! I have the giant box of Crayola and I hoard crayons obsessively. And I would LOVE to see your dinos. :)

Yeah, totally, I like to alternate. Historical costumes for a while, with all the bits and bobs...but then a book of sea creatures that I color completely unbiologically. (Neon-bright striped whales? DON'T MIND IF I DO.)
