Wow, well done. Very intense. I love the imagery of Dorian looking in the mirror through all of it!

Thank you. :D And yes, all versions of Dorian are terribly vain bastards.

Whoa, I can totally picture that ardent scene in my mind... it fits beautifully into Dorian's narcissistic personality.

In the book, the moment he "steals a kiss from the picture" before him... I like to think that line shows an innuendo for Dorian's autosexual (as someone that is attracted to him or her self) tendencies... ;-)

Welcome and thank you so much for posting your fic here, Ryntha! :-D

I could swear it was allowed for the members to insert a new tag, if needed, but nevermind: I just created a tag pairing: dorian/dorian. Gee, how I could forget it... ;-D

Thanks for letting me know about it!

His narcissism is a joy to write about, as it's so fascinating. A sort of semi-sociopathy, too, given that he never really seems to care about other people's emotions (certainly not Basil's).

And I completely agree with you! The vanity's definitely connected with the painting. "Once, in boyish mockery of Narcissus, he (…) had sat before the portrait wondering at its beauty…" Actually, I find this bit in the novel really interesting (while we're on the subject of his vanity!):

The lad flushed up and, going to the window, looked out for a few moments on the green, flickering, sun-lashed garden. "I owe a great deal to Harry, Basil," he said at last, "more than I owe to you. You only taught me to be vain."

Poor Basil. Er, I need to stop trying to get into discussions over the book, haha.

(Wow, I haven't been called Ryntha in ages, since I shortened it to Ryn. I really need to get a LJ name change, haha.)

I feel for Basil so hard. :(

I admit that my favorite character from TPoDG is Lord Henry Wotton (goddamn, THIS MAN), but Basil comes right after.

I do hope you post more of your beautiful stories here, Ryn! Cheers! ^_^/
