Yuletide Letter 2015
Happy Yuletide, dear writer! And I hope you’re enjoying the most wonderful time of the year. I didn’t get around to writing a letter last year, life rather caught up to me, so I hope I’m not too out of practice for this. And, even more than that, I hope you have fun working with my prompts! I’m hugely enthusiastic about all the fandoms on here, so nearly anything that you write is going to fill me with joy.
Just a few general details, before we get started:
General Likes: Fusions (especially Harry Potter/Hunger Games/Daemon/A:TLA based), AUs of pretty much any kind (excepting slavefic and A/B/O), genderswaps, badasses in love, smut (my major kinks include biting, bloodplay, voices breaking in sex, talkative characters, anything oral, totally consensual rough sex and usually composed characters COMPLETELY LOSING THEIR COOL), awesome ladies, threesomes/moresomes, polyamory, the entire Enemy Mine trope, people in denial, fake relationships/fake marriages becoming real, wingfic (DON’T ASK ME WHY I LIKE WINGFIC), huddling for warmth, sex pollen (I also do not know why I like sex pollen), first times, accidental baby acquisition, badass action stuff and happy/hopeful endings.
General Dislikes: A/B/O, Slavefic, mpreg, anything scat/waterplay related, mind control, completely dismissing female characters, incest, relentless angst and super dark/unhappy endings.

And now onto the letter itself!:
Blake & Avery Series - MJ Carter
Characters: Jeremiah Blake, William Avery
This was one of my absolute favourite book finds this year, and if you’ve read it I’m sure you know why. Interesting plots, wonderful diversity (I know! Le Gasp!), Historical accuracy AND a relationship between the two main characters so endearing that I had to keep putting my copy of the book down to clutch my face with glee. Truly, a dangerous combination.
As you can probably guess, what I want most in this fandom is fic exploring the relationship between Blake and Avery even further. I loved their dynamic in the book, and I really want to see more of it. Especially in a romantic sense. I feel that there’s a hell of a lot of potential for a really interesting romantic relationship there, and I’d absolutely love to see somebody explore that!
One thing I will say, though, is that adultery is one of my major squicks and so I’d prefer it if you worked around Helen. She can either be friends with Avery or just not appearing, but I’d prefer it if they weren’t actually married if you choose to write a romantic dynamic.
Some prompts:
-Blake has to go to Cornwall to solve a case there, and teams up with Avery again. Along the way they discover their feelings, and have to work through just what they mean to each other and the romantic ramifications that meaning has.
-Established relationship fic. Where they’re old, grumpy men and yet still totally in love and solving crimes together. Possibly relating to the industrial revolution and everything that involved? I shall leave the details up to you.
-Genderswap AU. Wihelmina Avery was sent to India to find a husband, but being poor and shabby she has little luck. And then she meets Jeremiah Blake and gets swept into an adventure involving most unladylike behaviour.
-Supernatural creature AU! Jeremiah Blake isn’t human, but rather an eternal vampire that was turned by Mountstuart and has been hiding out in India ever since. How does Avery react to this secret, and how does it affect the world around them?
Justice League & Justice League Unlimited (Cartoons)
Characters: Clark Kent, J’onn J’onzz
I was SO surprised that this got in, I can’t even tell you.
So, real talk: I ship absolutely everybody in the Justice League. Give me a random pairing of characters in the main seven, and I’ll most likely ship them together. The only problem with this approach, of course, is that there is little fic for most of the pairings involved. Which is where Yuletide comes in!
One of my favourite “random” pairings in the Justice League is J’onn J’onzz (The Martian Manhunter) and Clark Kent (Superman). I just feel that they work really interestingly with each other, and mirror and contrast with each other in so many different ways. I love how they’re both the last survivors of their planets, and how their reactions to this are so different. I love Clark’s hope, and how it interacts with J’onn’s reluctant distance from the world. And I especially love how much they care for each other, and respect each other all at once.
I do ship them, but I’m aware that it’s a rather niche pairing and so I’d be perfectly willing to receive a gen exploration of their relationship. It’s really up to you!
Some prompts:
-A Gen exploration of their friendship and how they interact with each other. J’onn and Clark have both lost their worlds, and react to it in different ways. I’d love to see them discussing this, and perhaps providing each other with some much needed support.
-An expansion of the Christmas episode, with J’onn visiting Clark on Christmas every year and them slowly growing closer over time.
-Good old getting together fic. Perhaps one of them is injured on league business, and the other one suddenly realizes how much they mean to them? Except it turns out that the injured one isn’t actually that injured, and saw the other one freaking out about their death. And then they talk about this and everything ends happily and with make outs.
-Porn. I know this is an incredibly niche pairing, but if you’d at all feel comfortable writing it I’d love to see it! I’m sure there are quite a few possibilities for kink here. J’onn can shapeshift, Clark has super strength… You get the picture.
-Super optional prompt, as I’m aware that I only nominated two characters here, but: the reaction of the rest of the League to Clark and J’onn’s budding relationship. Is Bruce worried? Does Diana think it’s sweet? Is Wally a little weirded out but totally supportive? Show me how their relationship fits into the rest of the world!
Atomic Robo (comics)
Characters: Robo, Jenkins
Atomic Robo was another thing that I discovered only this year, and I really do love it. It’s basically a pulp comic about a robot who fights crime, Nazis and dinosaurs and has a lot of fun doing it. There are about eight big compilations out, so it might be a little much to catch up with if you haven’t read it already, but I’d definitely recommend giving it a look if you ever have the chance. It’s super fun!
The thing that probably interests me the most about Atomic Robo is the modern day exploits. I like the period stuff, but I absolutely love Robo dealing with supernatural shit in a modern setting. Another thing I love about the modern day setting is Jenkins. He’s a grumpy badass, an absolute joy to read and his interactions with Robo are absolutely wonderful. Atomic Robo shines the most when its two resident badasses are facing down impossible odds, and I’d love to see more of that.
Some prompts:
-Another day in the life of Jenkins. Perhaps he goes on holiday again, and has to stop a ridiculous James Bond-esque plot? Give me more of his attempts to relax.
-An exploration of Robo and Jenkins’ friendship. They’ve obviously been through a hell of a lot together, so I’d love to see more of that. Perhaps they have to thwart an evil scheme by Doctor Dinosaur? Or a plague of vampires? Or a sudden road trip for plot reasons? Any of those or none, just give me more of their fun interactions!
-An exploration of the potential relationship that could exist between Robo and Jenkins. This is only if you feel up to it, as I’m aware it’s another niche request, but I’d love to see how a romance could develop between them. This could be an established romance, as in they’ve secretly been together for years, or an incredibly recent thing that they’re just working their way through. Either way, I’d love to see it!
Starfire (DC Comics 2015)
Characters: Koriand’r, Stella Gomez
Ah, Starfire! Yet another thing that came out this year, and yet another thing that I’m incredibly fond of. I love how bright it is, how cheerful and happy and how much life it brings to Kori’s character. A lot of serious things happen, but it still always remembers to have fun. And that, quite honestly, is one of my favourite things to see in a canon.
Another one of my favourite things is the relationship between Kori and Stella. They obviously care about each other a lot, are both fiercely competent and are both really adorable together. Their interactions are generally my favourite parts of each issue, and I’d love to see more of them in a fanfic setting.
Some prompts:
-Kori and Stella have to solve a case together! How badly does this go wrong? How annoyed does Stella get on the way? Does Kori learn a valuable lesson at the end of it, or does everybody learn a valuable lesson from Kori?
-Kori and Stella slowly get together. They obviously like each other, and I think it’d be really sweet. Maybe a slow build sort of thing, where they’re adorable and badass and fighting against aliens together? Or an exploration of Stella realising that her feelings for Kori go beyond the platonic? Or Kori just deciding to jump Stella one day and Stella rolling with it? Any of those, just show me them being adorable together!
-Kori and Stella go on vacation together. This can be a platonic vacation or a romantic one post them getting together, but I really want to see them having fun antics and causing accidental chaos wherever they go.
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
Characters: Doreen Green, Nancy Whitehead
…This is a very comics-heavy letter this year. I’d apologize for that more, but comics!
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is yet another thing I recently discovered this year, and I really love it. The art is adorable, the plots are hilarious and the characters are all amazing. I love what a light look at the world it is, and it never fails to make me happy whenever I read it.
One of the things that makes me happiest is the dynamic between Doreen and Nancy. They’re amazing by themselves - Nancy writes fanfic about Cat Thor and Doreen is THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL - but together they’re even greater. They just balance each other out, Nancy reminding Doreen to be sensible and Doreen dragging Nancy into whacky adventures, and I really love the dynamic between them.
Some prompts:
-General fluff! Either them getting together, them already being in an established relationship together or somewhere in between the two. They're already adorable together, how much does that increase with the addition of romance?
-Scooby Doo/Detective Fiction style AU. Where they go around solving mysteries in a van/bus/giant squirrel car, and are super cute about the whole thing.
-Established relationship future fic. Where will Doreen and Nancy be in sixty years time? I’d like to think still superheroing, and then coming home to their little house and being cute old grandmothers together to their mixed family of squirrels and cats.
-Super optional prompt, as I know I didn’t request them, but fic where their animal companions get them together. Maybe both Mew and Tippy-Toe see that Doreen and Nancy are adorable together and work to bring this about? Maybe they get various other squirrels and cats in on the act? Either way, I’m sure it’ll be hilarious and adorable!
Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch
Characters: Peter Grant, Thomas Nightingale
Aha, finally a fandom that I didn’t fall into this year! I really enjoy the Rivers of London books, and I’m sure you can understand why. They’re fun stories about magic and mayhem, and all the characters are really endearing and enjoyable. I enjoy the plots, I adore the worldbuilding and I especially love the dynamics between the characters.
One of my favourite character dynamics is that between Peter Grant and Thomas Nightingale. Nightingale is obviously Peter’s boss, but there are so many other layers there to explore. They’re colleagues, friends and have the potential to become really close lovers. And I’m interested in all of those facets.
Some prompts:
-Case fic where Peter and Nightingale have to work closely together to crack an unusual occurrence. I’m thinking something outside of the ordinary here, where they have to rely upon each other and only each other.
-Established relationship fic. Where they’ve been together for a few years, and are really comfortable in the swing of their relationship. I’d love to see how they deal with things with that dynamic, how they handle cases and other such threats.
-Really established relationship fic. Where Peter is old, and Nightingale has somehow found a way to reverse the aging process and they’re adorable old people together.
