I have separate sick days and I don't see the upside, except they give me a way to not give 2 weeks advance notice when I want a day off.

The main upside is that I never have to think "this could be vacation time if I just went to work."

I don't think 'taking time off to recover from flu' qualifies as "first world problems"!
