Congrats to
spacialk and her husband! May they have many happy years together and may people think they fit together as well as they apparently thinking
softlykarou and I do. :p
One thing I don't remember if I mentioned--in his last speech at our goodbye party, Nakanishi-sensei said that
softlykarou and I were lovebirds, and that there was a phrase in Japanese that had basically the same meaning--鴛鴦夫婦 (oshidori fuufu), meaning a couple that's like a pair of Mandarin ducks. I quote from wiki: "Unlike other species of ducks, most Mandarin drakes reunite with the hens they mated with along with their offsprings after the eggs have hatched and even share scout duties in watching the ducklings closely."
I should update my zombies together userpic to a pic of mandarin ducks.
spacialk's wedding was quite neat. It was actually a first for me to go to the traditional "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today..."-style wedding, and so I was a bit surprised at the various places the audience was supposed to respond. It was really nice, though. All done in their backyard, which is like 12-13 meters across and probably 100 meters long (it takes up pretty much the entire space in between the row houses on the block). The playlist was excellent--mostly Spanish guitar during dinner and the dance music could have been ripped straight from the Fallout 3 soundtrack.
It was really neat to see people I hadn't see in forever as well, though a bit odd. Well, not that odd--we're still young enough that no one's appearance has changed significantly, so there wasn't any kind of dissonance from that. It didn't seem like that much time had passed, in the end, even though I hadn't seen some of the people there since I graduated university.
Tomorrow I go in to a temp agency for an interview. We'll see if anything comes of it. I assume it's just a generic placement interview and not for anything specific, but who knows.
