Most likely, but not really what I meant. The spirits were all interconnected where I come from. It's probably one of the reasons I'm having trouble with some of the ones here.

Not much, I'm sorry to say. Mostly I've been trying to deal with the material world and make sense of this place.

That's true. Some are friendlier than others, but all have the potential to be approached, if you have the right affinity.

That would explain why I've managed to speak with some, but not others. What "affinity" do you speak of?

People with an affinity seem to have a talent for one or more elements. Either they learned some spells of that element before arriving in Luceti or there's some other factor. If you didn't have any elemental spells or noticeable leanings toward one element or another before your arrival, then it's likely you don't have one. That doesn't prevent you from learning some of the magic here, though.

Apparently, forming contracts with them is fairly simple in comparison to most of my experiences with gaining magical abilities.

Yes, they seem remarkably eager to help.
