I refuse to acknowledge Val is three. I'm sorry but that's bullshit. That's not how emotional development works, yo.

Doom vs Thanos was great, ngl.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get Doom and Richards interacting at some point. Also, wtf is up with Doom's face in the new Iron Man run, seriously.

I can do some handwaving about Val retaining subconscious memories from the teenage Valeria Von Doom to accept a lot of stuff, but I can't get past the fact she's still physically three, so even if she's capable of understanding how to repair to robots or whatever, she still shouldn't have good enough motor control to actually do it. And yeah, making her super-mature as well as super-smart sort of negates the point of having a child genius character in the first place.

The cover for Secret Wars #9 with all the significant moments from Marvel history does have the Reed-Doom confrontation as the centrepiece - the pose looks familiar so it's probably meant to be a version of one of their classic battles, but hopefully it's at least symbolic that there's going to be an important confrontation. Although this issue sets up such a lot of stuff that between that and the fact the universe reboot still needs to happen it's hard to see how there's going to be time to fit it all in unless there are going to be extra pages ( ... )

Yeah, the physical maturity is even weirder and I tend to ignore it (I snuck a reference to her eyes not "finished" in Strange Aeons, for example). I'm really glad that Val had that line earlier in Secret Wars about her still being a kid and not being ready/emotionally mature to learn what Doom was hiding ( ... )

Yeah, I really want what happens with Doom to be explained in this book, mainly because I trust Hickman to write it much more than I do Bendis or some other random future writer, but it just seems like the issue's going to be tight for time when there has to be some sort of scene between Reed and Sue, Doom's got a confrontation with Namor and Black Panther to deal with before he can face off with Reed, the whole universe reboot has got to be set up and explained... It probably depends how Doom's loss of power is going to be handled and whether we see him voluntarily concede/step down or it's going to be a big battle or what ( ... )
