Halloween On Your Screen!

You may or may not already know this, but I do not Do horror, especially in film/television--though sometimes there are things other people classify as horror that I'm completely (or at least mostly) okay with, and other times things most people would classify as too silly/unrealistic to be True Horror are totally out of the realm of things that I ( Read more... )

I used to not do horror at all, but then started liking things, like you say, that others classify as horror, that I saw as more a thriller (like "Scream.")

I like "The Frighteners." It definitely doesn't get as much love as it should. LOL "head's up" is a really accurate phrase for one particular scene people might need to be warned about.

My husband was watching "Odd Thomas" a few months ago, but I couldn't get into it, though in fairness, I wasn't paying really close attention.

"Beetlejuice" is a classic.

"The Sixth Sense" has some scary parts, but yeah, I was never too scared watching it.

I love "Charmed", "Supernatural", and early seasons "Teen Wolf."

I didn't start to dislike the character of "Buffy" until late in the shows run.

I hated Angel on "Buffy" but liked him on his own show. I had trouble getting over the early departure on that show and didn't keep up with it for awhile, but the show did recover eventually.

oh man, this will probably be far shorter a response than I wanted to give, but yes! The Frighteners! So underrated. And haha, I wasn't even thinking about that, but I suppose it is!

Odd Thomas is actually really good, but yeah. Since you like The Frighteners, I think you might like it if you gave it another shot? It also has some heavy neo-noir overtones, which I very much appreciate but I know some people definitely might find offputting?

Also YES on Angel! His BTVS character is...really actually pretty awful, honestly, in my opinion. But I hadn't really seen much of Angel in BTVS when I started watching Angel the series, so I was surprised, to say the least, when I went back and saw a Buffy ep with Angel and didn't like him. Ah well.

I'll probably give "Odd Thomas" another try, especially since my husband liked it so much. Some parts did seem interesting.
