While I read this, I physically hurt for you. My heart contracted, and I felt my breath go away for a moment. I almost got teary!! Damn you, Patty =P
I mean, you know, you think, and sometimes other people think, that so much in life is so much more important than some boyfriend from high school or early college, and it's true, there is a lot more that is a lot more important, but not a lot that hurts more. There are pretty much no other times in life where you have to deal with losing someone's love. Your parents never stop loving you. Your friends never stop loving you. And yet the ones you feel the greatest love for-- the ones you fall in love with-- do sometimes seem to stop loving you. Coping with this apparently sudden loss of love is one of the most difficult things in life.
I'm sorry, Patty, that you are so hurt right now. I am sorry with all my heart.
