Author's Note#2: Now with a remix! Negotiating Results by nouveau_monday .

Gibbs mentally slapped himself when he realized he’d paused in the doorway to Abby’s lab in an attempt to delay having to face her.  He was a marine, damn it.  Nothing scared him, nothing.  Not terrorists.  Not budget meetings.  Not explosions.  Nothing.  But failing to follow through on a promise to bring Abby a caf-pow?  He swallowed heavily.  That was something else entirely.

“Got those results for me yet?”

“Gibbs!”  She spun around, the smile on her face falling when she saw his empty hands.  She valiantly, yet unsuccessfully, attempted to hide her resulting disappointment.  “No, my babies haven’t spoken to me yet.”

“Call me when you get a match.”  He turned to walk away.  “Oh, and Abs?”  He forced himself to turn and look her straight in the eye.  “The caf-pow machine was broken.  They said it’d be up within the hour.  I’ll pick you up one when I go out for more coffee.”

He could see her perk up at his explanation.  “Thanks, Bossman.”

“Got you something to tide you over though.”  He reached into his pocket, pulled out a Green & Black’s chocolate bar and tossed it to her.

“Dark Chocolate Espresso? You do love me!  Thanks, Gibbs!”
