Ianto knocked quietly on the door to Jack's office.  “Mail for you, Sir.”

“Hmm?”  Jack looked up distractedly from a pile of paperwork.  “What is it?”

“An invitation, I believe.”

“Not another political soiree, is it?  If I have to wine and dine another political dignitary I might wind up doing something even I'd end up regretting.”

Ianto held out the card.  “I highly doubt that would be the case in this instance.”

Jack stared at the invitation in question, blinking as his gaze took in... “Is that green crayon?”

“Technically, I think the correct name for it would be electric lime.”  Ianto smiled, studiously ignoring Jack's raised eyebrow at his response.  “Shall I?”

“Oh, by all means,” Jack gestured at the card with his hand.  “Go right ahead.”

Ianto reached over and took the letter opener off Jack's desk and slit the card open.  Clearing his throat, he began to read, “Miss Josephine requests the honor of your presence at a tea party this Sunday at three o'clock.”  He paused, tilting his head slightly.  “Miss Josephine?”

Jack leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.  “Oh, you remember, that little girl we saved from the Thrudian beast.”

Ianto pursed his lips.  “Ah, right.  There is also a post script here.”  He brought the invitation up closer to his face as he tried to decipher the crayon scribbling on the back of the card. “I hope Mister Fluffybunnykins made you feel better.  Can you bring him for a visit when you come for tea?”

The uncomfortable silence that followed was finally broken when Ianto cleared his throat.  “Mister Fluffybunnykins, Sir?”

Jack got up and walked over to a set of drawers and bent down to fish something out of bottom one.  "Well, yes."  He kept his back to Ianto, obviously embarrassed, his tone sheepish.  “Josie was scared, so I might have hinted that she had every right to be.  I explained that it was a very scary creature and maybe, just maybe, I was a little scared of it as well.  And then she, so she... well, she suggested I take Mister Fluffybunnykins home with me.  She said that he'd keep me safe and that he was good at keeping her nightmares away so maybe he'd do the same for me.”

Ianto stepped up behind Jack and placed a hand on his arm.  “That was very kind of you.  I'm sure it did her good to know that everyone, even big strong Captains, get scared sometimes.”

“I should ring her to tell her I'll come.”  Jack laid his hand over Ianto’s.

“I'll do it, Sir.  Shall I confirm for both you and Mister Fluffybunnykins?”

Jack laughed.  “Yes, for both of us.”  Jack fingered the floppy ears briefly.  “Thanks, Ianto.”

With a last pat to Jack's shoulder, Ianto turned and left, knowing that the image of the great Captain Jack Harkness looking longingly at that purple stuffed bunny rabbit would be with him for quite some time.
