Those shawls are really pretty! I like the seam (? Decreases?) running up the centre. And word to blocking. I almost never block. I don't find it helps that much, to be honest. But I mostly use acrylic yarn, so I don't think blocking works as well with it.

There are some projects available to do to help the animals affected by the Australian wildfires. You can crochet bird's nests and joey pouches. There's a lot of rules to it, but they won't care if your wool is really brightly coloured, so if you want a stash buster, it might be something to look into. Here's a link to a list of projects ( ... )

Thanks! The center of the shawl was an increase point so it had a corner flare effect.

I've honestly never blocked I don't think? But it's something I always hear about doing so I just sort of assume you're supposed to.

I hope you find a fandom that inspires you soon!

I think blocking works well if you're working with animal fibers, but not if you're working with synthetics. And I think you have to block with intricate lace to open up the yarnovers and let the pattern show. But I've never worked with animal fibers and am terrible at lace, so I've never tried.

Blocking's one of those things like gauge swatches that I really should do but...pretty much don't.

I've been enjoying Sanditon on PBS a lot, but not in a fandom way, just in a 'yay, I like this show' way. The last thing I felt compelled to write a story about was 'Mary Poppins Returns', oddly enough. But I think that was largely just because Lin-Manuel Miranda looked so utterly delighted to have been invited to be in any scene he was in that I felt compelled to make sure his character had all the good things. :-P

[EDIT: I was trying to find the edit button to fix a spelling mistake and accidentally gave myself an emoji. Please don't think I'm that vain on purpose.]

I don't due gauge swatches either. I assume for some stuff - intricate patterns or form fitting clothing - it'd be very important, but it never seemed too necessary for the stuff I do.

I've heard of Sandition, when I have some time I'll hunt it down and give it a go.
