Lavender is fantastic for burns and scalds, even if you use it neat (it's better in aloe vera gel if you can get it). If you do use it neat only use a a couple of drops on unbroken skin, it will ease any pain and stop blistering. The use of neat lavender oil on burns is what prompted Tisserand to investigate the properties of essential oils, thus giving birth to aromatherapy as we know it.
ONLY if your skin isn't broken. It will sting like hell for about 20 seconds but after that it really takes the 'burn' out of a burn. It's just about the only oil you can use neat, but you've got to be very careful you don't use too much.
I had no idea. I actually have some lavender essential oil left over from a craft project from awhile ago, but the burn's not that bad so I think I'll skip treating it - but it's good to know if (when) I do something dumb like this again
*hug* my sympathies. I am a bit of a klutz myself so much so hubby installed a fire extinguisher and first aide kit in the kitchen just in case. The kit has been used so often that I need to restock it!!!

My husband picked up a dish from the oven once, it sort of sloshed over on his arm and left a triangular brand that lasted MONTHS.

It's amazing the things we do without thinking twice about it!
