Father was invited to the Ministry picnic this weekend. He says I should come and see him, but I don't think I will. It's disgusting that this event is even taking place, with this Voldemort fellow and his friends still on the loose. Surely, there's a more productive way for them to use their time than feasting and playing games ( Read more... )

So it only matters when "we" are affected?

I never said that it didn't matter. It's just easier to ignore, and not as large of a threat.

People have been dying for weeks now. At least a dozen, if not more. That shouldn't be easy to ignore, even if the victims weren't wizards.

I know that. It certainly is not anything to take lightly. But now that they have started in on wizard victims, they should be putting in extra effort, not taking the day off.

Then maybe we should meet up on the day instead and talk about how fucked up the Ministry is.

I'm staying in London, a little ways off from Diagon Alley. [Have an address!] You'll make it all the way just for me?

You would think it wouldn't be a very good idea either to just have an event like that while this is going on, it might put the people attending at risk of being attacked themselves. They'd be sitting ducks.

Exactly. They never have been known for thinking very hard, have they?

No, not really. I hope more people don't end up dying before they decide to get their act together.

It's a bit too late for hoping that, isn't it?

When even I, a connoisseur of depravity and tastelessness, see this as callous, it's as if all of our society has reversed its polarity!!

Granted, even if people weren't dying and everything was sunshine and flowers and even scampering puppies, I probably wouldn't grant the Ministry the blessing of my esteemed company.

I've never been a fan, myself. But I know when to play nice.

If I was ever taught how to play nice - and, even with 89 years remaining, that is possibly the century's biggest 'if'!! - the information is somewhere in a dusty corridor in my mind in a bin marked "useless".

The Ministry should be able to handle a little rough-housing!

That's not fair at all! When times get tough, you gotta keep smiling!

When times are tough, you've got to do your job.

You can do your job and smile.

But instead of multitasking, they're taking the day off.
