His skin was cold.

He first noticed it on a July day. He had his gloves off for a moment-they were tainted with chemicals and needed to be cleaned-and he’d held a hand to his forehead to keep his throbbing headache from exploding out of his brain. oh that's so sad!

You know why it's so sad (of course you do, you wrote it) it's that he just goes back to normal, like that's his normal!

Please tell me you've read the book or seen the film of Millenium with Kris Kristoffeson and Cheryl Ladd? If not, you should!

This really reminded me of that. The characters have a fake skin, and they think they can take it off and go back to "normal" but they can't ever do that. Scary.
