I seem to be using a lot of my gay hamlet icon recently. XD I can't help it if it's fabulous!*
ANYWAY, ACCORDING TO THE TRADITION I HAVE ESTABLISHED FOR NO REAL REASON, I WATCHED ANOTHER HAMLET AND MUST ANNOUNCE HAVING DONE SO IN CAPSLOCK. AS INDICATED BY THE TITLE OF THE POST SAID HAMLET WAS THE BBC COMPLETE WORKS ONE WITH DEREK JACOBI.
OH MY I WANT TO SEE THIS NOW BUT I HAVE SEEN LIKE FIVE OR SIX FILM!HAMLETS, AND PEOPLE WILL THINK I AM SERIOUSLY STRANGE IF I START WATCHING MORE XD ...okay, that's not going to stop me. I LOVE Derek Jacobi. Love, love, love. And he looks _adorable_ and shiny in this. *wants to say something more intelligent and incisive, but is way too distracted by the Hamlet/Horatio*
Five or six, you say? Which are they? Hamlet is like... my Shakespeare-on-film obsession. XD (It would be Julius Caesar, but NOBODY DOES CAESAR. *shakes fist at them*)
IT IS TOTALLY MY SHAKESPEARE-ON-FILM OBSESSION TOO XD
I've seen the Olivier one, the Mel Gibson one (SCARY), the Ken Branagh one, the Ethan Hawke one (wins prize hands down for sexiest Claudius XD), and the David Tennant one. Oh, and I saw the one from the BBC animated tales, but that was like half an hour, so I'm not entirely sure if it counts. XD I own the Nicol Williamson Hamlet, but have yet to watch it, because Hamlet has a fairly prominent beard in that, and any facial hair beyond that of Jacobi's or Branagh's is not what I'm looking for in a Hamlet. And live I've seen it twice...I saw an open air production YEARS ago, and the Jude Law play in London last August.
I'm about 30 minutes into Olivier, seen Gibson (aww, I liked it!), Branagh, not seen Hawke's but it's apparent I need to, and Tennant. Also, this one, and Campbell Scott. Give yourself a half point for Animated Tales. XD (HAVE YOU SEEN THE CAESAR ONE OH LORD IT IS TERRIFYING) I watched the first 5 minutes of that last night on youtube. I kinda liked the Gertrude, but Hamlet himself got about 5 lines in before I decided DNW and stopped it.
OMG JEALOUS. How was the Law one? I haven't seen it on stage yet, but that's going to change this summer.
Aww, I kinda liked that Ophelia. :( She had spunk. (And OMG kissing Laertes like that-!)
I CAN TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY UNTIL "TO SLEEP!? PERCHANCE TO DREAM!?!". SHATNER PLAYED HAMLET ON STAGE, YEAH? I MEMORIZED IT BY... READING/RECITING IT A LOT. YEAH BORING.

WEREN'T HIS "TO BE OR NOT TO BE" AND HIS "POOR YORICK" THE BEST RENDITIONS OF SAID SPEECHES EVER? YES YES?
Well, the latter one, at least; Shatner did a "to be or not to be speech". It might be better than Jacobi's. Because, you know, Shatner.
