So this place is called 'The Sphere'? Sounds like a good name for a mystery novel. Actually, sounds like a good setting for a mystery novel--waking up in cocoons with no memory of who you are or where you come from... No, I guess that's more sci-fi, isn't it? Sci-fi really isn't so much my taste, but it doesn't seem like we have much choice of ( Read more... )

There are some shops and cafes scattered around.

But are they any good, is the question. Bad coffee is just a crime.

The company can make the coffee good or bad, too.

Very true. Maybe good choice in coffee-drinking company should be my next inquiry.

Depends on where you hatched out at. Some've the stores got clothes, mosta the hotels got coffee downstairs on in the rooms.

Welcome and stuff.

I never trust the stuff they give you in hotel rooms, but these hotels are pretty upscale, so the cafe in the lobby might not be bad, now that I think on it.

And thank you. It's all a bit disorienting, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

...Why not? Something wrong with it?

You get used to the amnesia after a bit. It's the giant ants and turning into dogs that throws me off every now and then.

Not necessarily, but it's usually prepackaged and/or instant stuff you find in hotel rooms--it's rarely very good.

Turning into dogs? This place really is like a sci-fi novel. I hear there's fruit with teeth sometimes, too.

If you think it's sci-fi now, you should have been around when the rubber monsters were roaming about.

Not sure how decent you'd count the clothes here since I've not gone about looking, but there is a clothing shop you may want to look into once the Tree's opened up and you can get to the Bazaar.

...Rubber monsters? This place really is unusual.

The bazaar? Thanks for the tip. Once the bug problem is taken care of, I'll have to check it out.

You're telling me. Nothing says abnormal like having a herd of giant 'tomatoes' with teeth roll after you all day.

So, Nikki, hm? Certainly one of the more normal names we've gotten around here.

[In that case, let us give her a nice little opening for it. Pay no attention to the narrator behind the curtain.]

Tomatoes with teeth? Part of me is almost sorry I missed that.

[XD! you're awesome.]

Is it? I've only met Derrick, and that's a pretty normal name, to the best of my knowledge. Can I ask what yours is?

It makes me think more of a name for a station or a ship, really.

Clothing down here seems like it's designed for little kids, so it might take some looking to find anything suitable. You could try trading with someone, maybe.

Well, I'm told there's better shopping at The Bazaar, but apparently it's overrun with man-eating ants at the moment. Maybe I'll just wait...

You might be able to find pajama lowers, but the last set of blue jeans that I saw had patterns of plastic crystals all over them. And they were tiny.

You ended up decanting at a bad time for picking up adult clothing, it seems.

Something tells me it could have been worse. I guess I can live in this sweatsuit for a little while, provided the hotel has laundry facilities, but I certainly can't go look for a job dressed like this.

I don't believe I caught your name--could I ask it?

Derrick, is that you? [It has to be. There can't be that many people who would say 'behold' around here...]
