So I just don't feel it anymore. After what I saw from the army at Pennsic, and recent discouraging news about my work with the German Masters, I have no idea what my role in the fencing community is anymore.

No I am not going to quit the SCA, and don't want to hear from the people who would suggest that.

The army was sad. I don't know about the German masters feedback, but just keep doing your best.

No reply on the AE army part -- not my cup of tea and not involved enough to comment -- and not sure if it is just a knee jerk response from someone thinking critique is a problem. As to the German Masters work, if it is critique, use it to be better. If it is trashing you, don't believe it. Context would make the discussion easier, but all in all, consider that even knowledgeable criticism can come from a good person on a bad day and make it seem terrible ...or be received by a good person on a bad day and seem demoralizing. That is why you have friends for sounding boards.
