Thing is that the only person thus far who's really kicked in his protective instinct, other than the unavoidable bits connected to being a guardian, was Natasha. Who was very much like Fred, though he wasn't in love with her. But the thing is that... at the very least, he'll want to take care of her. And that'll be good for him. Plus he's about the sweetest thing on the planet, and he has no problem with spaz or awkward, since he is often both of those things anyway.

Thankfully, Mattie likes to go to the Gauche every so often to see Grace, one of the doctors there. She was his babysitter when he was a kid, and she's a very good advice giver. Buffy just comes along and waits nearby. So we can definitely pull a meeting whenever we want, especially since Aub (Buffy's player) is v. nice to me about Mattie dragging her into the city.
