This storyline would be the people she can count on in her crazier moments to make her feel slightly more normal - friends, mostly, or people

I offer up Arlin as a sparring partner, because he needs friends, inasmuch as Arlin ever has friends. :P I'm not sure exactly how much he'll be a trainer in the traditional sense, but he'd definitely spar with her and she's bound to pick up things in that kind of situation.

Okay, I hesitate to suggest it before we've had them interact at all, but I REALLY find the idea of Mat and Fred as a couple. Which might not happen anyway, as he tends more towards boys, BUT.

Thing is that the only person thus far who's really kicked in his protective instinct, other than the unavoidable bits connected to being a guardian, was Natasha. Who was very much like Fred, though he wasn't in love with her. But the thing is that... at the very least, he'll want to take care of her. And that'll be good for him. Plus he's about the sweetest thing on the planet, and he has no problem with spaz or awkward, since he is often both of those things anyway.

Aww, I think Mat's adorable. And we all know how Fred feels about young men (or old vampires) who want to take care of her. Handsome men to the rescue are kind of her weakness in terms of romance. :D

But yes! I say we throw them together in a situation and see what develops.

No can do - he's living in the Gauche, over in Cicero, since his ward (the infamous Buffy Summers) lives there, and he's got a bit of... how should I say this... separation anxiety? He already lost one ward, and it's a very traumatic thing. Many Guardians don't even live through it. Once he has something more than just the urge to see his brother pushing him, he might actually start trying to work up to being across the city from her, but as is...

Thankfully, Mattie likes to go to the Gauche every so often to see Grace, one of the doctors there. She was his babysitter when he was a kid, and she's a very good advice giver. Buffy just comes along and waits nearby. So we can definitely pull a meeting whenever we want, especially since Aub (Buffy's player) is v. nice to me about Mattie dragging her into the city.
