@guilt-tripping: yeah, I get that a LOT from my parents too. Malas lang kasi na eldest kids tayo eh. I got my job for the exact same reasons you want to get yours.
@job: umm...have you considered making your own bank account? I know it'll take a bit more time, paperwork and such, but it'll save you the cut that Western Union takes from your paycheck. If you can't do that, well...money transfer is the only way to go. But you should definitely take the job!! Not only will you get money, you'll be able to list it as experience in your resume. If your parents find out, that's sort of a good excuse to give them.
actually, them finding out i created a separate bank account is much MUCH worse than them finding out i got a part-time job. that's like asking for world war 3 with cherries on top.
and as i later found out, its for another job that offers the paypal option. this one's strictly moneygramm/western union. THOUGH, the client is based in cebu (though he's in thailand right now) so not much cut (though i can't be sure because the calculator o'er at westernunion's website is only US-based. pffft).
the excuse i'm thinking of is, "i wouldn't be sneaking around if you'd let me get a part-time job legally in the first place -_-;"
and what bad timing. i get my first offer during the 2nd to the last week of school--ie, major hell week. DAMN.
need to talk to the person who started me on this: mox!
