I'm not sure if anything is better than Mick Jones! ;)
That particular artist, Howie Day, has 2 full-length CDs out, plus the EP+DVD I gave you. I wasn't sure which CD to get you, but I want all of my music-loving friends to see him perform live, so that's how I decided to get you the EP. If you're mildly interested, I highly recommend getting his new album out, called Stop All The World Now.
Magazines (well, Rolling Stone in particular) aren't giving it stellar reviews because they think it's a copy of Radiohead, which I'm really not understanding. I do hear some Radiohead-ish moments, but if I would compare that album to anything, it'd probably be something Coldplay-ish, because there's a lot of moody, beautiful piano work present. I also hear U2/Joshua Tree influences.
It's fine when you're comparing an artists music to that of another artist, but I hate when magazines bash an album because "it sounds like _______." Can't they actually review the content for what it is, what the artist is pouring his heart out about, and
( ... )
you're right...first rate stuff. i still like radiohead, though i skipped their last show here.
i also hate 'critics' who review everything but the music. that's something i like about jazz. so much of it's instrumental, played with showmanship as an afterthought, that the music survives personas and politics.
thanks very much. i hope to get australia in the near future.
roland it's good to hear from you. may your season continue (at least for the next week as i assume you have it off work) as you do what you want to do and in the process, just be you. :)

I have been listening to stuff as of recently that I never really would imagine myself listening to just a year ago,
For Example,
Josh Rouse.
Ryan Adams,
And today I got a CD from a band called 'The Postal Service'... i am really liking this one.
Do you have StreetCore From Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros?
