The next two weeks were going to be tight, but I had them generally figured out. Then Dish came along and screwed me.
I had to terminate my Dish contract because we had no line of sight to get a signal. I was told by FOUR DIFFERENT PEOPLE that the termination fee would be waved.
Apparently not.
And, of course, THIS is the week they put it through my account. It's not a check, so I can't stop payment. Phone calls to them have resulted in "we will not be reversing that charge". I'm pissed and frantically scrambling to try to salvage the situation as best I can. We've pushed the car payment. We'll be snail mailing in our auto insurance payment (because they will count it as paid as long as the post stamp is by the last day due). I'm still working on food and keeping our phones. And gas for the Chef to get to work later in the week.
So, I'm doing a ChipIn. A hope-to-God-this-is-the-last-emergency-for-YEARS ChipIn. If you can help, I'd really appreciate it. I'll also accept Kroger cards if you want to guarantee it goes to food (just D/PM me for the address).
I know I sound terse and pissy, because I am so beyond pissed at this point, it's not even funny. I will NEVER work with Dish again. EVER. We will go with Netflix and Hulu Plus before we go with Dish. Or just stick with Comcast.
Despite how I sound, we would really appreciate any help anyone can give. Even if it's only $5. I'd like a minimum of $200 to cover a bit more than food (and need $150 by tonight to save the cells, so not expecting that to happen), but it's only for 2 weeks, so will be happy with anything sent to help. That's why there's no set/goal amount on the ChipIn.
I honestly feel horrible doing this again, but we ARE in a better place financially and can start digging out from under the mess made from the last 2 years. Dish just screwed everything up for the current paychecks. And I am getting other help where I can. I even looked into the 100 day payday loan places (you don't want to know). This really should be it. Chef is working hard, and we should be able to get on our feet. Just someone had to throw in one last monkey wrench, I guess.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to anyone who chooses to help.
UPDATE: The ChipIn is at $55. We need about $50 more for cat food and gas in the middle of the week. We could use a little more for other small things, but those two are the last major things I need to take care of. THANK YOU to everyone who has helped so far! Soooooo appreciated! Every time I see that Paypal notice, I start to cry.
UPDATE 2: We made it through the week and this upcoming week is looking better than expected, so thank you everyone for helping out! Dish is now locked out of my account. Means I have to wait for a new debit card, but that's a small price to pay. Fortunately, we're not worried about anyone else needing to get in there without us calling first. ;)
