We love having female refs, it's just that most girls want to play!
We had a female ref at the bout on Saturday, Dolly Spartan, who has been reffing while recovering from an operation. She fully intends to play though when she's 100% fit! That's why we end up with male refs! I imagine the same will be true for them, they'll end up with female refs because guys that want to play derby want to PLAY, not ref.
If I'm injured or can't play for any reason, I'm totally going to learn to ref. I'd probably be dreadful at it though, it's REALLY hard!
