I know you wrote this a long time ago and I'm behind on commenting. I've read this so many times in the past week or so, and every time I wanted to comment on it but I find myself at a loss for words to really, adequately describe how much I loved it. The beauty and the struggle of these two characters was wound together so perfectly and flawlessly. The struggle for home and love even in the midst of the bad memories. The way you described how things were some nights--some nights Cloud knocked her door, some nights he turned away. It was just realistic all around. My favorite, favorite part is when Tifa is getting stuck in the painful memories and she wonders if she's just the last in a long, twisted line of people trying to force what she wants from Cloud's body. I could so completely see her wondering (fearing) that at some point or another. Then the way Cloud responded to her--it really was gorgeous. I had a lot of anxiety writing this one, so I'm really happy when people like it. You hit on pretty much everything I was trying to get at with these characters, who really have a complicated relationship. It was kind of daunting after a while.

I would make a coherent comment. I really would. But the fact is that this entire story has left me in that happy place where my vocabulary's shot and there's nothing left to do but lean back in the chair and sigh with contentment at this sweet, realistic, absolutely believable picture of their lives. (That rooftop conversation? Good lord, YES. *__*)

So I guess all that I CAN say intelligibly, is truly thank you for the story. I enjoyed myself tremendously. ^____^
