In a dream, Willow paints poetry on Tara’s back with glossy black ink. Her skin is smooth, even and firm under the brushstrokes, and perfect for writing on. (Which is odd, but definitely not the strangest part of the dream.) There’s a feeling of easiness, of contentment, that washes over Willow like waves on a shore (or something equally lyrical and cliché) as she replicates the original Greek from memory that she distantly realizes she doesn’t have.

When she’s awake, Willow asks Tara if she can paint on her back. Tara turns to her, and Willow realizes a little late that maybe it’s a weird question; she tries to elaborate, “I had this dream -” but isn’t sure that she’s making sense, and feels herself losing track of her point as she keeps talking, and talking, and talking.

Eventually, Tara gets this little smile on her face - that little smile on her face, like that she loves Willow for all the reasons that people used to be annoyed by her - and Willow falls silent.

“Sure thing,” Tara says, simply, smiling, and she pulls her t-shirt over her head like it’s entirely normal.

And probably, by most mainstream standards, it’s not normal, but for them - it actually kinda is.

Willow is suddenly reminded of the fact that Normal with Tara is kind of the best, and she grins a wide, dopey grin as she starts looking for paint and a paintbrush, while Tara unclasps her bra.
