Mmmmm hot AU uhhh, anyway. Nathan shifts newspapers so they aren't taking over the entire table and leans forward on his elbows. Already a few days of real rest and food are beginning to take effect, and he's looking a good deal less tired.

Still more casually dressed than those who knew Congressman Petrelli would have guessed, though; he's almost found that he likes the comfort of things that aren't suits. It won't last, he just hasn't had time to get a bunch of new suits yet. "What can I do for you, Dr. Weir?"

Possibly he will eventually start calling her Elizabeth, but it's unlikely.

Elizabeth smiles briefly at the 'Dr Weir'. She's going to ask about where the hell the terrarium on the kitchen bench came from, but that can wait until after they've discussed the more important issue of legal guardianship of Claire. "Well, we have some paperwork to go over, which I'm going to assume you'll want to do soon."

Coffesip! "At the moment, I'm Claire's legal guardian here; it was prudent at the time. Times have changed, so should that."

"I agree." He could be more tactful about that, but this is Nathan Petrelli we're talking about. "In Wisconsin it was never exactly an issue, so I'll admit as a former lawyer I should be better versed on what exactly we'll need to do to have that transferred."

It's really not even relevant for that much longer, given that Claire is going to be 18 in less than a year, but Nathan does not care. >:( He will probably also at some point ask if Claire wants to change her last name, and try not to be too hurt if she doesn't.

"We'll have to see about getting her into a school here, too." ...HAHAH Claire, and you thought you were just going to run around the Nexus being FREE and stuff.

Elizabeth considers the fact he didn't get pissed about her being Claire's guardian in the first place enough tact, given...you know, stuff. She's honestly been waiting for one of the Petrellis to take her to task about the fact they just wandered off into the nexus -- despite the fact she was in a coma at the time and can't be held responsible. Elizabeth has a small tendency to take responsibility for things she shouldn't ( ... )
