Thanks, Maureen. Christina, perhaps unsurprisingly, is a very strong character, just like her non-sons. Her voice was very easy to hear. Sorta scary...

The dog references. LOVE that. Him as a labrador - dogged and loyal and someone who stays. And then Christina as a bitch in heat. I didn't find that procreative - that reference to 'in heat' - more that she wanted something else, something more.

That was very heartrending, Candy. I loved the backstory, although I found myself particularly sad at this image:

"Hello, dear," she said softly.

"You look better today, Mom," Lincoln said, which was his opening line every day. See, he wasn't particularly inventive.

"Thank you, sweetheart," she replied. "Where's Michael?" she asked.

Because a boy his age WOULD be saying that everyday, if only because he needed to hear himself say this.

Thanks Candy. Beautiful

I really like animal references when it comes to Lincoln too. :D

I wasn't thinking of Christina's heat as a procreative thing either, more just the base need of the worst kind of animal because she didn't really have affection for her own child either.

She was more fun to write than I expected. I could hear her voice quite well. I hope that doesn't reflect too badly on me ;-)

I read Rosie's fic then hot-tailed it over here for this one.

Both fics moved me deeply, though the styles are so different, but both perfectly capture something about Lincoln that makes it obvious that Michael, despite the lack of fraternal blood, would feel an unbreakable bond with the man who, in essence, raised him. Christina was right to think that bond could be a problem ( ... )

I know, isn't Lincoln so sweet? How could she not love him? Heartless wench.

I really liked the idea that Linc would realize she hadn't loved either of them--and Michael understood that too. Christina had a warped vision of those two boys for sure, but her strangest notion is that she somehow loved Michael when she left him to the same fate as Lincoln. I loved the idea of her misjudgment coming back to get her so many years later.

And I like the idea too that Aldo took Lincoln in and in essence Lincoln took Michael in, and those bonds are stronger than any source of blood or biology.

Thanks for your thoughts, Foxy. They are always appreciated!

She'd need to be heartless if she couldn't love that boy. :o(

I loved the idea of her misjudgment coming back to get her so many years later.

If she had truly loved Michael, she wouldn't have left. So yes, she deserved for that to come back and get her after all those years.

And I like the idea too that Aldo took Lincoln in and in essence Lincoln took Michael in...

Perfectly put. There are no bonds stronger than those forged in adversity.

Anyway, regardless of the crap TPTB threw at us during S4, Michael Scofield RIP. :o(

Icon? Yes, I could use a hug right now, Lincoln. *virtually hugs the Big Guy*

Lincoln stares into his mother’s eyes as she pulls the trigger. The world slows in that moment before impact, a place where he hears the crack of the bullet leaving the barrel and the desperate cry of his brother’s voice from a cell phone, and he receives a revelation.

The look on Linc face, you have it down so well.

he only wants to live so he can tell his brother the truth. They’d never had a mother, only each other. Somehow I feel like that unlike Linc, Michael always knew that. Linc believed in Cristina till the very end. And that revelation that you wrote about. I think it was also this .... He finally realizes it was always just them.

Oh, thanks! There was really a lot there in that moment, I thought. And I do love Linc an unreasonable amount! :D

OMG, Candy. I've had a really long day today but had to come over here and read this and, wow - it has just blown me away so sorry if I don't sound terribly coherent, lol!

I loved it all and would literally would be cutting and pasting the whole thing, this bit was particularly awesome:

he only wants to live so he can tell his brother the truth. They’d never had a mother, only each other.

Fabulous stuff, hon. You STILL write Lincoln so beautifully. Thanks so much for sharing it. :)
