I don't understand why so many people in cooking school seem to need so much help figuring out what to cook.

I'm a culinary student with a brain, so rest assured that there is one of us on livejournal, at the very least. I see a lot of "culinary students", especially on food_porn, asking the dumbest questions. More often than not, when I browse their journals they are full of references to the mall, drugs, beer. Seriously?? I'm trying to make it in an industry that still has a very real bias towards women, and girls like her are not helping.

I think in many of the cases we see here, it is, in fact, if "culinary school" really means "program at the community college that sounded the most fun", which I have a strong suspicion it does to many of those on LJ.

I agree. I just can't see anyone at a real culinary school hopping on LJ to say, "Duh uh, how do you make guacamole? Kthxbye!"

I'm thinking so too. I worked in hopitality for years, & none of the apprentices I ever worked with were like that.

this all makes me want to cry. i was going to go to culinary school last fall, but it's too damn expensive. stupid losers.
