Everything and I do mean everything that is wrong with non-resident taxpayers can be summed up in a recent letter to the editor in the Cape Codder.

Someone is writing because he is unhappy with his lot in life. He is a permanent resident of one of the most expensive states in the Union (New Jersey) and owns a second home in one of the most expensive ( Read more... )

Heh. I was thinking just this morning (after setting a picture of Mull as my desktop) about the whole issue of "Person A experiences this place as a lovely spot of isolation and relaxation, while Person B experiences it as a place of gruelling daily labour." Had the same experience when I was on Cape Breton and gave a lift to a guy who was hitching home from the grocery. Turned out he was a local fisherman, "Not much else *to* do around here," he said.

Person A needs to be a bit more considerate, or at least respectful, of Person B than As usually tend to be. :-\ But Persons A never want to hear that...

I guess it may seem like hes just nagging about his vacation place, but look at the bright side. He's just there a few months at the most out of a year but the town's people reap monies from him as if he was a full time resident.
