I told someone recently that when I was asked what car I wanted (after my previous was wrecked), I had said I wanted a MINI (Cooper) or a VW Bug-- now what can we afford? Actually, I think that I followed up with a mention of hybrids, which I also anticipated as pricey

I heard something on the radio to the effect that even with today's gas prices, it could take quite a while to pay off the difference in price between a hybrid and a regular gas-burner.

Yeah... I when I got a car last December, I got a used Corolla-- which still gets around 30 MPG-- does that count as recycling?

Considering that my last Geo Prizm (Chevrolet Corolla) got 33 mpg loaded for Pennsic, yep.

My previous car was a Geo, and the mileage on it was not quite as good. OTOH, it was a '99 model, and perhaps had not been well-maintenanced.
