I tend to fear these things for the people I care about. Several months ago when someone exposed my circle of intimates to HIV, I was far less concerned for myself than I was for Zach even though it would have graver implications for me than him. I was seriously not ok until he and everyone else came back negative.
I've never been a stranger to pain, but I try to avoid injury whenever possible. I do have a bad habit of not taking pain or my personal wellbeing into account to the degree that I should.
Death has too constant a companion over the years for me to really fear it for myself. I've got some pretty funny ideas about death anyway. My current obsession with Persephone's revelation to Parmenides is influencing those ideas even further.
