HUGE earthquake in Christchurch. 6.1 on richter scale, but only 5k deep. Christchurch is devistated. The September Earthquake was 7.1, but this was so much shallower, and it hit right in the middle of the day, when people were out and about, unlike last time, when it was 4am.

Thats cool, I'm glad. I've heard from all the people I can think of that I know down there, it took a while to hear from a few of them, but yeah. Thank god for FB also, clearing the lines of communication!

Been bawling my eyes out pretty much all afternoon!

We just got up to hear abt this, mr r's dad is holidaying there and just left Christchurch that morning, his hotel was rnd the corner from the cathedral

I know that it was felt half way up the NORTH island. Have you heard from him?

30million tones of ice fell off a glacier... If there is anyway to contact him I'd do it!

Oh god, the poor man! What an experience to have while in NZ! I sware, this dosen't happen often! So glad hes ok though, thats fabulous news.

They reckon the death toll is going to up up round 200, its seriously scary!
