Maybe resize the shirt so it's more flattering? I think it might end well to being sleeveless like a sweater vest rather than a standard pull over sweater.

i did a little tweaking with the size and cut off the sleeves, but it wasn't working out so I just turned the applique into a neck lace xD;
sucks cause I need more layers in my closet haha

leave the top as is and layer a V neck top over it, so you can still show off the collar detail.

I say seem rip that sucker and tie some lace at the ends and wear it like a little neck shall! I think it would be pretty that way iwth a high necked dress of some sort. Also I have a little silk handkerchief with the zodiac on it as well!
ps as an after thought it might be eiser to just cut the neck part off and the shirt can act as lining for the shall thing because seem ripping it might take off the the gold leaf part.

I'd attach the lacy neckline thing to a plain dress or as maroonsparrow said - make that sucker into a necklace.
