camera

I've been playing with the idea of a new camera for a while now. I want one that will last a long time and will take exceptionally clear photos. Mine is just too limited, slow, and the zoom feature makes the photos turn out a little grainy (plus it doesn't zoom in far enough).  I was looking at a Canon Digital Rebel XT, but the price tag makes me ( Read more... )

The Rebel is a DSLR. You don't need to spend $1000 to get clear pictures. Mine is an DSLR as well, but Nikon (D70, to be exact). In fact, I'd advise against a DSLR if you don't know much about using manual settings and not excited about learning it, cuz Auto in those cameras is usually not the best (as it's not intended to be used at all).

BUT I can recommend any Nikon from CoolPix series for great pictures! I used to have 2100 (one of the first in the series), and I was thrilled with it for really long time. They all come with optical zoom, macro settings and it's a VERY good quality brand.

Couple of samples of Nikon CoolPix 2100 at work for you, all taken by me in 2003. I didn't have dolls back then yet, but those show how good the macro in those cameras is.

Ah, poo. It won't let me see your pictures. Darnit!
Yeah, I'm looking for a camera that's easy to use, but takes really good photos.

The things I hate most about my camera are:
-I have to be in very bright light for it to take clearly
-when I use my 4x zoom, the pictures turn out VERY grainy
-I have to stand WAY back in order to take photos of my doll (then I have to use the darned grainy 4x zoom)
-indoor photos? My camera? Yeah... riiight. It's a must to be outside if I want any decent colors in my pictures.
-I have to be REALLY still when I take a picture. Shakey hands = blurred photos.
-My camera is EXTREMELY slow. It's hard to keep my camera steady long enough for the photo to take. I push the button... and wait to hear the click. Then I have to wait to hear another click. It's just really agrivating. I'd like a super fast camera that I can just point and click.

Basically, I need something fast, simple, and high quality.

Oh yeah, and another thing I absolutely HATE about my camera is the battery life. The silly thing keels over after about 40 photos. It's pathetic.

So that's another thing I'd like in my new camera... long battery life!

Ah, ok. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definately check it out. How's the battery life on it? And when you zoom, do the photos stay crystal clear? Or do they start to get a bit grainy?
