B2MeM 2011, Day Nineteen-Homecoming, Part Three

Mar 31, 2011 19:54

I don't usually do drama that well, so I'm not sure how this reads.  But Part Three is in response to this challenge:

Day Nineteen: Rivendell
Today's Challenge:
"Every parting is a form of death, as every reunion is a type of heaven."
--Tryon Edwards.
Write a story or create a piece of artwork centered on meetings or reunions.

Homecoming, Part Three )

“Have they got you sitting out there waiting, Gwilileth?” he asked her. The maid nodded.

<3 Imri :-)

"And *don’t* bother with the head-chopping business.” ... "I’m not a khan, to chop off your head because you’ve besmirched what I fondly consider my honor. This is Gondor-you don’t get off that easily. Talk to me! And sit down!”

That made me grin, it echoes Fin so nicely, and that was what, 30 years earlier? Did Fin and Imri discuss it, I wonder? ("Imri, I like him, but he keeps telling me to chop off his head!")
Did it get an entry in the Andrahar How-to handbook? :-D

You've got to know that they did! "Is he really serious? What should I do?" And of course-"You're the only one who can handle him!"

"We can never just discuss what went wrong, it's always the head chopping thing! It's like he's saying to either let it go or get a sword, but either way stop going on about it!"

Tee hee! Exactly. Tends to end the conversation right at the beginning. "You don't like it? Chop my head off. Otherwise, live with it!"

Oh, dear--they have had quite the talk now! And love the closing remark from Andra--he has his friend pegged well!

You have an LJ! Good, I can properly pour out my adoration of your writing, then. ;) Seriously, I have been hanging out on Yuletide chat (don't know if you know Yuletide or not) and recommending your fics to everyone. I read them years ago, but as circumstances happened, my love for LOTR got shoved to a backburner as I went onto other fandoms. And then we had a power outage, and all I could read were real books or things on my e-reader, and I looked into my Tolkien fanfic folder and remembered I had liked your writing (I'd saved a few using Fanfiction Downloader--my ereader can handle html files), and then re-read CMC. And again. And again. *g* Still going through a very slow re-read of it now, to catch all the little details. (There are some references I haven't sorted out yet, but don't know if you'd explain . . .) And of course I've read everything else ( ... )
