B2MeM09 Day Seven Prompt

It would be easier to catch up if I didn't keep writing stuff longer than drabbles!  The prompt is:
Imagine this! You are walking in the woods and sudden a tree whispers to you ... What does it say? What is your reaction?

My answer is a little sidebar to Captain My Captain.  In Chapter 28, Elladan, Elrohir and Hethlin take refuge in Fangorn

nice! so many want to believe that they are filling gaps in tolkiens story and here you fill a gap in your own tale; it fits in so very nicely and makes the fangorn experience even deeper.

Thanks, Nancy! I was having problems with that prompt since I couldn't imagine trees talking to Hethlin (she's got enough things talking to her already!) or Imrahil or anyone from Gondor really. So that left the Elves. Or Almost-Elves, as it were...

Your Elrohir always was more sensitive than he liked to show, and I loved that about him. This is lovely and lyrical and sweet, with that melancholy sense of time slowly passing and of loss which is common to the Elves and, in Tolkien, to their friends the Ents and the trees...
