Hmm...she was attacked at the village, then went looking for Sesshoumaru, who apparently took pity on her and brought her home. The rest is a mystery yet to be revealed...

Okay I agree with others that Sesshoumaru's idea of comforting is.. special, but on the other side if it works who would cares about such a detail ;)
