my aunt is dying

She's sick, apparently it's cancer. She doesn't have a lot of time left. We weren't close, I only met her once in my life, and she's only spoken to my mom once since she got married. But she is my mom's sister and I think she should see her once more while she still can. I've also never seen Trinidad, so I'm probably going to go with. We'll ( Read more... )

Dude - I'm so sorry. Knowing a family member's dying sucks no matter how close you are to the person. I hope she is without suffering and that she has so far had a good life. It's good that you are going!
On an aside - my mother and her sister are super-close. They talk every single day and they meet up at least once a week. They're truly an example of how it should be done. When we lived in the same city they'd always go grocery shopping together and people knew them as "the sisters" :) When my aunt moved away people kept asking my mother where she is!

Thanks, honey. I'm still not sure if I'm going yet or not. I asked my mom and she said she called her sister today and she's feeling a little better, and my dad doesn't want to go right now. He's super douchey about my mom's family, he is making her feel guilty about wanting to go see her dying sister =/ He did the same thing when my grandmother (mom's mom) was dying of kidney failure (she went anyway).

Your mom and aunt sound SO SWEET! I definitely won't end up like that with my brother. My family just doesn't breed close loving siblings =/ I just hope to be able to stay in his life, especially if I'm off being famous and whatnot. ;)
