Presumably, our pups have lives that happen when we aren't playing them, as none of us can play 24/7. Some of the things that happen are tedious and everyday, and not worth thinking much on: It's fair to assume they eat, bathe, go to "work" or school as it applies, etc. But there might be things that happen between pups that, while not necessarily

Coraline wanders around EVERYWHERE. She likes to explore things and counts thing. Jennifer might have seen her on the beach, counting things in the Compound or visiting the Clinic.

Coraline is a perilous adventurer, think about how many times John and the team come back for treatment and times it by a thousand. Coraline doesn't seek trouble out, it seeks her out. She normally doesn't have anything much more severe then a couple of scrapes and cuts. She's always covered in bruises.

Oh and as a medical professional, she might notice faint scarring around her fingertips- this is from when she got trapped in the Mirror Room and tried to claw her way out.

I would assume that they spoke quite a bit about general Island and Atlantis subjects during the time Jennifer stayed with Elizabeth, until her hut was completed, and Elizabeth would most likely take time out now and then, if not always regularly, to make certain she was fairing well.
