The Lonely Brigadoon Fan

I find it kind of funny and kind of sad that my fansite is, literally, the only fansite in the entire internet for Brigadoon Marin to Melan. I have nobody to steal material from, the fans are so few and far in between, you can't talk about it in forums because nobody else knows what you're talking about.

So I considered myself lucky to find this ( Read more... )

I feel the same way - Brigadoon is one of those obscure goodies that need loved by people, but people have kind of been hit or miss with the fandom. If you ever want to talk about Brigadoon with me, don't hesitate. My MSN/AIM information is most current.

One way to encourage interest is to go to other sites' forums (my favorite is AnimeNation) and when people ask for "recommendations for a new series to watch" you suggest Brigadoon. Also anime/video gamer sites, since I believe gamers, who are generally combat-oriented already, would appreciate a series like Brigadoon.

I personally don't watch the series for the combat or some the creepier humorous story elements--What caught my interest was the drama. How many other series have you all set to cheer for a plucky grandma and then have her DIE, not even from a disease, or wounds nobly received in battle (as with Utawarerumono--which also caught me TOTALLY flatfooted, BTW), but from simple old age?!? That's when I knew to take this series seriously. I got the same shock/sinking feeling in my gut that happened when the mom died in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, right after her brain surgery and you were breathing a sigh of relief because you knew she was going to be okay...*urk*

Cool. I just found the two-volume manga for Brigadoon, which I haven't have time to read but the storyline seems to be a heck of a lot different than the TV series. That can be a good thing, if done well. The grandfather is still alive, for example, at least at the beginning of book one.

You found this manga in the Internet, or printed?

Don't worry, you're not alone. I'm a fan too, and ironically, I'm a fan because of you. Your videos on youtube have helped me watch the show and fall in love with it. So I am in debt to you and just say so and we can chat and stuff.
