apartment + pee breaks!

my friend is moving into an apartment this weekend and taking her one-year-old schnoodle with her. her apartment is on the 15th floor and yesterday she was talking with me about how she'd like to train her dog to be able to pee on her balcony or something so that she doesn't have to take him downstairs to pee in the snow at 12:30 am. we talked ( Read more... )

Why not just build a box of 2x6 inch lumber with no bottom, put some soil in there and a piece of sod? Then you can have a little mini-lawn.

Or let the pee fall down onto your neighbors balcony. That would probably get you evicted. Or at least it should.

inthecompanyofdogs.com has one called The Throne that is just what she is talking about. (And other, less expensive models, but I like the Throne because it has a tray, etc) When living in Chicago, I seriously thought about purchasing one as I had two yorkies at the time (which have now been 'stolen' by my parents, lol)
The problem with sod is that you have to have a way to rinse it, and synthetic grass pads can help a dog still use regular grass (as opposed to puppy pads, which can be confusing)
