The Honolulu Star Bulletin always seems to promote local artists, they showcase some really talented people. This article was published in today's newspaper.

Artists of Hawaii is the big annual show at the Art Academy. It usually happens in the summer. They send out an application if your name's on their database. I don't see any for this years show online though.

For upcoming shows, try looking for info at Hawaiian Graphics, UH Art Dept, Honolulu Academy of Arts, Art at Mark's Garage in Chinatown. And the Art Center at Linekona has a table of art shows and call to artists announcements.

The newspaper usually runs call to artists too...maybe there's nothing happening right at this moment? In the meanwhile just keep making art so you have something ready to show when the opportunity comes.

i sometimes see call to artists in the Honolulu Weekly newspaper, that free one that comes out on wednesdays.....every once in awhile i'll see like 5 listed at one time, then a few weeks go by with none....so i would try checking there too!
