Rupert was actually doing something that would have seemed entirely normal to anyone who didn't know him, but for anyone who did would have struck them as slightly incongruous with his personality.
He sat in the sand with his sleeves rolled to his elbows and a book in his hands, open, which he was frowning at in a way that, if you didn't know him, would have looked studious.

He looked an awful lot like Rupert, if you discounted the book.
"Er... Rupert?" he ventured.
It could be Rupert. Maybe. Conceivably. He hadn't seen the inside of the book, maybe there were pictures in it.
