Eight days have passed and Florence decides she's given Mike enough time to tell the mother of his children that she's arrived. It's a strange situation, only because she's never imagined Mike with children and yet it's a situation she's coming into and she's more than happy to adjust. He's good with a family, she can see this much, and she imagines Eostre is practically a saint for putting up with some of the things she knows Mike is capable of.
It's stranger still that she's nervous. For as long as she's known Mike, she's been the only woman in his life, though it's never been more than a familial bond. She hasn't been nervous once since her arrival, but as she enters the Compound that morning, she can feel the unfamiliar twist of her stomach that she recognizes as nerves. She's left the gun behind for the first time since she walked out of the barn, she's aware of the impression it makes on some people and this feels important to her.
Entering the kitchen, she sees the twins first and a smile turns up the corners of her mouth at the sight of them. They really are beautiful little girls and when her gaze finally turns to the woman there, she can see where they got it from.
