Well, Gygax is dead.

It seems like an appropriate time to reflect on all things D&D.

I think of people who play as particularly smart and quirky and creative. Which many of the ones I know are, but it doesn't necessarily follow. As I have learned.

No it doesn't. But as you've seen with my college friends, it once did. D&D was awesome because I played it with friends. I've never not played with friends... until recently.
