MeMeing for Mental Health

So. Because my heart, not to overstate it, has been torn in half and thrown down, has been eviscerated and left on the road like so much ofal unworthy of a simple courtesy call of "hey, sorry I killed your fucking heart" (in case you're wondering what's going on in my personal life), I gakked this meme from maharet83 to take my mind off my woes:

There are a lot of shows that you watch and I don't, but the ones we do have in common, I mostly agree with you on.(I still like NCIS and Criminal Minds however.)

Have you had a look at Lost G!rl? http://lostgirlseries.com/ I'm kinda on the fence about it because one character gets on my last nerve, but as a show, it's kinda; Yeah! I like that.

Haven't ever tried Lost Girl. Haven't even ever heard of it but for the screencaps that periodically show up in my comm list.

I'm with you on the massive Leverage disappointment. I keep tuning in, thinking *something* good will happen, but it's such a pale, pale shadow of its former self. I haven't reached the point of bidding it goodbye yet, but it's getting to be more boring and annoying than pleasurable. Re: their "Office" episode 2 weeks ago? I want my hour back ( ... )

Our TV viewing sensibilities are actually quite different for as many fannish shows as we have in common. :D One of the reason we like each other's writing as well as we do, I think. We come at the world from such diametrically opposed views, yet often see many of the same universal truths when it comes to what makes characters human.

Yay on Justified. Everything about that show is awesome. I think Yost may owe me some residuals solely based on how many people I've sent the show's direction over the last 2 years. But I'd take payment in the form of a smile from Timmy. Does that make me shallow?

Oh yes. Smash. I forgot about that. I'm also looking forward to Smash, although it promises to be a hard uphill battle to get my husband to watch with me. Although I would never have believed he would watch SYTYCD with me either, and he loves it almost as much as I do. So you never know, you know?

I believe I will issue you a challenge, for when you're all cramped up on writing-type stuff and your Muse will not play.

Icons. Boyd's hair. Go for the funny.

The Timmy!smile is awesome. They should bottle that - it would cure a variety of ailments, I believe. Have you seen "A Perfect Getaway"? Hawaiian scenery. Timmy's naked butt. Lots of smilin'. What more could one ask from a movie?

Shallow? Naaaaaaah.

A Perfect Getaway? Why no. I haven't seen that (see icon). ;) Almost didn't watch it just because I could call it from the trailer, but watching Timmy be Timmy made it worth while no matter how predictable it was.

Have you seen Catch and Release? Starts out looking like a crap movie, and it stars Jennifer Garner: 2 strikes in my book. But. It's actually an awesome movie, and Tim is exceptional in it. And terribly, terribly charming. And very much deserving of that Milch quote of "If I had that young man's looks I'd never work an honest day in my life."

:)

Boyd's hair is terribly funny. Unfortunately, every image I hve from Justified, including screencaps, is of Timmy. I wonder why that is? LOL

Yeah - I wouldn't bother with Homeland -- I usually love Damien Lewis, but he's acting so self-consciously in this role that it's uncomfortable. It's an odd show. I wouldn't have started it if I knew then what I know now.

Most of the writers I follow are absolutely nuts over it. I like Clare and would be willing to tune in for her alone, but the subject matter is just such that, no matter what they do with it, I'm afraid I'm never going to be anything but distressed.

I'm willing to watch hard TV on occasion. I am not willing to commit to a weekly evisceration on a topic that holds hand with the reason why I turn off the internet for a couple of weeks every year.

I like hard TV, too, but I wouldn't classify this as hard TV, personally. More like oddly wishy-washy, overly PC TV. A bit too much like 24, though much toned-down, rather than something more serious. It really is an alternate verse.

Huh. Interesting. First negative review I've heard.

And also, Evan Peters and Jessica Lange own me. As do Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy.

Hells yes. I jumped in for Connie Britton, and then Jessica Lange showed up! I grew up watching King Kong over and over again, so having her on my screen again was an absolute delight. I've also missed Frances Conroy ♥

Jessica and Frances are 2 of my favorite actresses, and I LOVE watching them in such meaty roles. And Jessica is having so, so, so much fun!

Love your Evan icon. Such an exceptional young actor. I rarely get as excited as I am over the mad chops of an actor this young ... last one I remember is Leo DiCaprio, who I went ballistic over after Gilbert Grape. Actresses? There have been a few real standouts, Dakota Fanning always the benchmark of that particular group. But young actors? I don't usually find subtle and complex enough for what I require out of a character. But Evan has it, in spade. And he had it way back in Invasion, so this is not a new thing for him. But it is a wonderful thing. What a kick-ass role for him. And he could not be playing it more exceptionally.

My KongCon in honor of Jessica. :)

I don't doubt it. Actually all the actors have been given such interesting characters to portray.

I'd say the latest young male actor that caught my eye is Anton Yelchin. I was also following Emile Hirsch, but he... kind of faded for me? Just a little. Dakota Fanning is absolutely brilliant, I concur. <3 I actually can't recall having seen Evan in anything before. Might have to look that up.

Dakota rules. Never a false step that one. Her little sis ain't bad either. And I quite like Chloe Grace, too. Usually not all that on actresses (more prone to bonding to actors), but have had several younger ones run up on me rather unexpectedly over the past couple of years. And Taissa's sister Vera (Farmiga) has been one of my favorites since all the way back in Roar with Heath Ledger. She (Vera), Dakota and Gena Rowlands have owned me for years. Nothing I won't go to see for any of them. Except Twilight, evidently. But I forgive Dakota for that, just as I forgive Kristen, who is a killer talent, all Twilight bs aside.

I fell in love with Evan in Shaun Cassidy's Invasion. He also did a killer guest shot in Criminal Minds, and was in the movie Kick-Ass. Kid has some serious chops ... something his role as Tate really shows to its best advantage.

I only watch some of the shows you mentioned but of those, I totally agree--except for Terra Nova. As I confessed privately, my uber crush on Stephen Lang gets worse with every terrible episode of that show. I'm not gettin' the Jason O'Mara love. Maybe it's just the way he's being directed, but I . . . I dunno. Not workin' for me. But Mr. Lang? omg. :: fans self :: I keep hoping Taylor gets injured again so he'll have to take his shirt off. LOL ( ... )

I liked O'Mara in Life on Mars. Not as much as I liked Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli. But I liked him. That's really the only thing I've ever watching him in though.

I can see your crush on Lang. He's one fine lookin fella.

I didn't see Timmy in the new GQ. I think you should post those pictures so ficwriter and I can have hot flashes, too.

187 is not cancelled. Do not fuck with my denial on this. It will not be pretty. ;)

And ho, ho yourself. Or, as I often say, Happy Happy Joy Joy.
