It is the chiaroscuro of the image that appeals to me, I think ... not that I have a kink for that or anything. *heh*

I like the high contrast and the harsh lines. He looks road weary and worn, like an earthly hero should even if his origins are from on high. Very telling of Castiel's journey. :-)

Thanks. I think that's what I loved about the original image, too ... how much emotion it reveals by concealing the details of Castiel's face in shadows. Misha's got great bone structure for an image like this.

He appears to be carrying the weight of the world - or the Winchesters (which is the same thing when you think about it).
